This program will explore the management of international operations and global supply chains. We will focus our study by concentrating on some of the successful products and processes that have come from Scandinavia . We will learn about the business and culture of Finland, Sweden, and Denmark through research, company visits, cultural outings, and interaction with people from the region.
All participants will enroll in
- BIT 5954 - Study Abroad (3 credits)
The program fee is $4,500. A $500 deposit is required once you are accepted into the program. You may make the payment to your student account, then call the Bursar’s office at 540-231-6277 and designate the payment for your Study Abroad trip. This deposit is non-refundable, unless for some unforeseeable reason the trip is cancelled. A second payment of $1,000 is due February 1. The balance of the program fee is due on March 1, 2017.

- Roundtrip airfare: Washington, DC to Europe
- Local transportation
- Lodging
- Admissions
- Some meals

The program is directed at graduate students. BIT 5414 is a desired prerequisite and MBA students must have taken an international elective.
Registration does not guarantee acceptance into the program, as space is limited. Go to the VT Global Education site - SOON! - to apply. Click the "Apply Now" button and follow the instructions. Your application will not be considered until you submit all the required forms.

Scholarships & Financial Aid
Financial Aid for this Study Abroad course may be available through the normal Virginia Tech channels. Please inform the faculty leaders if you are applying for Financial Aid.

While on tour, we will stay in 3 and 4 star hotels, double occupancy, and eat in local restaurants. Travel will be mostly by private bus with a professional driver.

You will be living in hotel rooms for 2 weeks. Do not try to take your entire wardrobe with you – mix and match your business clothes, and plan to do “sink laundry” if necessary. A medium-size suitcase is ideal. The airlines limit the weight of your luggage so pack light. The suggested packing list will help you choose what to take.
Electric Applicances
Europe uses 220 volt, 50 HZ electricity. Your standard USA hair dryers, curling irons, shavers and battery chargers will not work in Europe. Most of the hotels have hair dryers, and an available iron. You should check that your computer and any electronics that you take will work on 220 V, 50Hz current. You will probably want a plug adaptor for the Northern European region.
