International Ambassadors
Pamplin International Ambassadors help other students explore the different Pamplin study abroad programs through sharing their own takeaways and tips, as well as advising on the program selection and application process. Ambassadors will be asked to speak in classrooms and student groups, as well as study abroad information tables and fairs. Applications for International Ambassadors open in early February each year. Students with study abroad experience and that have a passion for promoting international learning are encouraged to apply.
Time commitments can vary depending on the time of the year, but generally students are asked to be able to commit to 1-2 hours per week.
Requirements
- Must be a Pamplin Student who is of at least Sophomore standing
- Have traveled abroad through a Pamplin program/exchange
- Maintain at least a 2.00 or higher cumulative GPA
- Have experience with, or are comfortable with public speaking
- Demonstrates respect for, and awareness of, the diverse cultures, languages and experience of Virginia Tech students
- Must be able to commit one hour between 10a.m. – 2 p.m. on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays
Responsibilities
- Having an enthusiastic and positive attitude toward study abroad
- Attend mandatory ambassador training at the start of the semester
- Provide information to interested students at information tables
- Help to direct students to study abroad programs that would be most interesting to them
- Speak during pre-determined time slots in both class rooms and student clubs
