Friendsgiving at Avellino’s Restaurant
Description: While most of us can agree that Virginia Tech is our home away from home, the Global Mentor Annual Friendsgiving Dinner solidifies that. Mentors and mentees gather to reminisce on the semester they’ve have so far and share at the dinner table the various people, experiences, and moments they are especially grateful for.
Pumpkin Patch at Sinkland Farms
Description: There’s no better way to welcome the Halloween Spirit and embrace the beauty of the New River Valley in autumn than collecting pumpkins at a pumpkin patch! We enjoyed live music, fall treats, and various fall activities in anticipation for Halloween.

Pamplin International Student Reception
Description: This event holds great significance as it marks the official welcome of all our incoming International students! Hosted at Hahn Horticulture Garden, faculty and students gather to learn about Pamplin’s International programs and meet those who work so hard to ensure the success of the program.
Picnic and Games on the Drillfield
Description: While the Global Mentor Program loves to give our students insight into general American culture and traditional holidays, we want to share parts of Virginia Tech that make it home such as the Drillfield! At this event, we embraced the beautiful Blacksburg weather and gathered on the Drillfield for outdoor games and a picnic. Our mentors and mentees were able to connect and bond while enjoying a staple of Virginia Tech.
Lunar New Year Celebration
Description: The Chinese Culture committee of the Global Mentor Program hosted the Annual Lunar New Year Celebration, marking the beginning of the Chinese lunisolar calendar. This festive event symbolizes the transition from winter to spring and embodies the qualities of wisdom and growth associated with the Snake in the Chinese Zodiac. The celebration included introductions between mentors and new mentees, traditional Chinese cuisine, and learning about Lunar New Year customs like red envelopes and snacks. The event drew over 60 students, mentors, and staff, making it a successful and enjoyable gathering.
Global Etiquette Dinner
Description: The Office for DEIB partnered with the Pamplin International Programs Office to host a Global Etiquette Dinner. This was an amazing opportunity for all Pamplin students, alumni, employers, and faculty/staff to gather, learn from each other's lived experiences, and walk away more culturally humble, culturally competent, and confident in the world of global business.
