Global Mentor Program

About Us
Empowering International Students at Virginia Tech
I would like to take a moment to introduce you to the Global Mentor Program at Pamplin, a truly unique and enriching initiative designed to support international students as they navigate their academic and social lives in the U.S.
The Global Mentor Program is more than just a resource—it’s a vibrant platform for personal growth and cross-cultural learning. Each year, we welcome a diverse group of international students and pair them with experienced mentors who are well-acquainted with life at Pamplin. Our mentors are not just leaders; they are part of a close-knit community that works diligently to ensure a welcoming, affirming, and safe campus environment for all students.
As a mentor, you’ll have the chance to make a significant impact by coordinating monthly social activities, facilitating cultural events, and conducting regular check-ins with your mentees. Most importantly, you’ll serve as a positive role model, building strong relationships with incoming students and helping them adjust to life at Virginia Tech.
The enriching experience for international students in the Global Mentor Program goes beyond academic support. It fosters a deep cultural exchange that allows students from around the world to feel heard, understood, and supported. By engaging with mentors and participating in various social and cultural activities, international students not only adapt more smoothly to life in the U.S., but they also gain invaluable insights into American university life.
In addition to regular mentorship, the program also oversees specialty programs that further enrich the students experience. For instance, we partner with Xidian University in China for a unique study program that allows students to take courses in both China and the U.S. Another key initiative is the collaboration with NMIMS in Mumbai, where students begin their studies in India before completing their undergraduate and master’s degrees at Virginia Tech. We also host the German Fulbright Summer Institute, bringing 24 students from Germany each year to immerse them in American campus life.
The Global Mentor Program is not just about academic guidance; it’s a holistic experience that nurtures personal growth, cultural exchange, and community building.
