Pamplin International Programs had an exciting start to the Fall Semester! We kicked things off this year with the annual International Student Reception. The Hahn Horticulture Garden was filled with a vibrant atmosphere, as mentors and mentees in the Global Mentoring Program, a mentorship program designed to help international students acclimate to life at Virginia Tech, connected for the first time. Pamplin International Programs welcomed over 150 international students from around the world, including three cohort-based exchange programs from Germany, China, and India. Students shared food, many tried sweet tea for the first time, and enjoyed the cool summer evening weather. The Hokie Bird made an appearance, along with Associate Dean’s Dr. Michelle Seref & Dr.  Reza Barkhi, and Department Head Dr. Devi Gnyawali. We thank them for their continued support of international students.

In early September, International Programs put on an evening of games at Squires Break Zone. Students took a break from the hecticness of the start of the semester, relaxed, and engaged in some friendly competition. Many students chose to bowl, while others played pool, video games, or just enjoyed the pizza and good company. After an evening of games in Squires, International Programs took the competition outside for an afternoon field-day on the Drillfield. Students enjoyed the Summer Sun and played Spikeball, CanJam, and Cornhole, a favorite among our international students.
