Mentor Bonding Event
We are back for the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year! We kicked off the upcoming events we have planned by welcoming some new mentors who have joined the Global Mentor Program at our Mentor Bonding Event. This event emphasized our efforts to build strong connections within the Global Mentor Program allowing for our mentors to provide a similar environment for our international students. We believe that the success of our mentors starts with the relationships that we build with each other and this event provided the space for our mentors to bond and connect.

Lunar New Year Celebration
The Chinese Culture committee within the Global Mentor Program planned and executed our Annual Lunar New Year Celebration! This event highlights the beginning of the Chinese lunisolar calendar and is one of the most significant celebrations in Chinese culture. This joyous occasion symbolizes the transition from winter to spring and ushers in the new year with hope and festivity.

The Snake in the Chinese Zodiac represents wisdom, intelligence, and personal growth and we are excited to embody that within the Global Mentor Program. We opened this event with introductions between our mentors and newest mentees for the Spring 2025 Semester, followed by Chinese Cuisine from a local Blacksburg restaurant, and spent the night learning of traditions practiced during Lunar New Year such as the receival of red envelopes and the consumption of varying snacks.
We had an amazing turnout for this event as we had over 60 students, our International Programs team and our fabulous mentors. Thank you to everyone involved and who attended this event!
