International business minor – Korea Track
The International Business Minor – Korea Track was designed for all Virginia Tech students with a GPA of at least 2.0. Non-Pamplin students who wish to earn the minor must go on a Pamplin approved Korea program. We offer students the chance to learn about Korea from a business, language and cultural perspective. The international business minor – Korea Track provides students with a rigorous foundation for success in today’s global business environment with a focus on Southeast Asia.
Requirements
- Required Culture Course – (3 credits) Choose 1 course from the Required Culture Course list.
- Suggest RLCL 1904 Religion and Culture in Asia
- Required Courses - (9 credits) Choose 3 of the following courses ( *Junior Standing required)
- BIT 4474 Global Operations and Information Technology
Prerequisite: BIT 3414 - FIN 4144 International Financial Management
Prerequisite: FIN 3104 - HTM 4484 International Tourism
Prerequisite: MKTG 3104* - MGT 4314 International Management*
- MKTG 4704 International Marketing
Prerequisite: MKTG 3104*
- BIT 4474 Global Operations and Information Technology
- Elective Courses - (6 credits) Choose 2 courses from the following:
- Any course designated KOR. (Two language courses may help you fulfill your required foreign language requirement for the International Business – Korea Track)
- Any course on the designated list
- Any one three-hour Pamplin College of Business Korea Study Abroad course
- Foreign Language Requirement (Korean focus)
The foreign language requirement can be fulfilled by passing at least four years of Korean in high school, OR completing KOR 1105- 1106 (virtual classes available), OR foreign language waiver provided by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures - native tongue is Korean or grew up in a bilingual household. - Korea Study Abroad/Internship Program
The required international experience must take the form of a Pamplin Korea Study Abroad Program, a Korea business school exchange program or a Pamplin approved Korea business-related internship.
Complete following International Business Minor- Southeast Asia Tracks application and return to Pamplin 1046, or email jcleveng@vt.edu with the scanned copy of the application. Decisions will be made throughout the year and applicants should receive a response in writing within seven to ten working days.
