Paris (Summer)

Paris – the City of Lights and the hotbed of the French business world – is the ideal location for this new study abroad program. Thanks to a new relationship with IESEG, a prestigious French business school with a campus located in the La Defense section of western Paris, this program will offer both a Pamplin core course and a tailored experience in entrepreneurship and innovation. MGT 3404, Principles of Management, will be taught in condensed format by France study-abroad veteran Stephen Skripak. After completion of this course, participating students will participate in a two-week summer program designed by IESEG to focus on Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The summer program will be taught by IESEG faculty and will offer 6 ECTS for completion.

Both courses will include visits to local businesses. During MGT 3404, students will pay visits to two larger French companies with operations in Paris. Since the IESEG program is focused on innovation, visits during those two weeks will focus on start-up companies.

The office of international programs at IESEG will arrange housing at one of the apartment buildings regularly utilized for their summer programs. Two levels of accommodation are available. The lower budget option is in direct proximity to the campus and does not offer air-conditioned rooms. The more expensive option, which is in an air-conditioned building, is a 10-15 minute walk from campus.

Courses offered

MGT 3404 – Principles of Management (3 credits)

IESEG Summer Program – Entrepreneurship and Innovation (6 ECTS which will transfer as 3 credits)

Tentative travel schedule

MGT 3404 will begin on May 27 with a short series of online classes prior to departure. Students will then travel to arrive in Paris on May 31. The majority of the course will then be delivered in a live setting, concluding on June 12.

The IESEG summer program runs from June 15-26, with students departing for the US on June 27.

Likely visits or other info

Example business visits that have been available through IESEG in the past include a guided tour of the Louis Vuitton Foundation and a historical tour of the famous Galleries Lafayette. A visit to the Station F business incubator is also likely.
