Claytor Lake State Park in Dublin is one of the best fishing and boating state parks Virginia has to offer. The lake was formed after Appalachian Power Company built a hydroelectric dam on the New River. The park opened around the lake in 1949, and the park was officially moved under state park management in 1951. Claytor lake boasts and excellent, clean beach with a bathhouse and concession stand.

Virginia Tech has 18 main sports facilities on campus. The most famous is Lane Stadium home to Virginia Tech Hokies Football.

Completed in 1965, Lane Stadium/Worsham Field has gone through numerous changes, renovations and additions. But through it all, it has always been regarded as one of the finest places to watch – and toughest places for opponents to play – a college football game.

Visit the filming location of the 80s classic film Dirty Dancing. While the lake itself has unfortunately drained due to environmental changes in the area, you can still enjoy the views surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains, and enjoy the historic lodge and scenic trails.

Swimming is still available by access to a pool, and team building comes in the form of interactive escape rooms, educational nature museums, and award-winning regional dining.

This highly scenic, 4-mile round-trip trail meanders along a shaded mountain creek to a 66-foot waterfall within Jefferson National Forest. Cascades Falls is low to moderate difficulty and native trout fishing is available in the Little Stony Creek.

There is a picnicking area, water hydrant for filling water bottles, and accessible restrooms at the beginning of the trail.
